Friday evening news – July 10, 2015

Ray will bring you up to the minute with news you should be aware of tonight. He has chosen the five major news stories from today right up to this hour.

This is Ray Mossholder with the five major news headlines from around the world on Friday evening, July 7, 2015…..

  1. From the New York Times….. The Supreme Court, Hobby Lobby, and President Obama……

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration issued new rules today that allow closely held for-profit corporations like Hobby Lobby to opt out of providing women with insurance coverage for contraceptives if the companies have religious objections.

But women enrolled in such health plans would still be able to get birth control at no cost through other channels, the administration said.

The rules were in response to a decision by the Supreme Court in June 2014. In that case, Burwell v. Hobby Lobby Stores, the court said that requiring family-owned corporations to pay for insurance coverage of contraception under the Affordable Care Act violated a federal law protecting religious freedom.

The administration had argued against that conclusion, saying there was no precedent for granting “a religious exemption” to commercial enterprises like the Hobby Lobby craft stores.

But under the rules issued by the administration today said certain for-profit businesses will be able to obtain an accommodation like the one already available to nonprofit religious groups, including Roman Catholic universities, hospitals and charities that object to covering contraceptives.

Contraceptive coverage has been the focus of fierce political debate for five years, as the administration struggled to meet the health needs of women while recognizing the concerns of people who have deep religious convictions against some or all forms of contraception.

Sylvia Mathews Burwell, the secretary of health and human services, said today that the new rules would “secure women’s access to contraceptive services while respecting religious beliefs.”

Family planning advocates, usually supportive of the administration, criticized the final rules.

“While the accommodation is given on the grounds of protecting religious freedom, what it really does is allow some employers to restrict their employees’ access to basic health care,” said Clare Coleman, president of the National Family Planning and Reproductive Health Association, whose members provide services to low-income people and the uninsured.

Under the health care law, employers with 50 or more full-time employees are generally required to offer health coverage or pay substantial penalties. Under a sheaf of rules issued in the last few years, the employer-sponsored insurance must cover preventive services, including all forms of contraception approved for women by the Food and Drug Administration.

The new rules offer a dispensation to certain for-profit companies that have a religious objection to covering contraceptive services. If they report their objections, adhering to procedures described by the government, they can be excused from having to provide or pay for contraceptive coverage.

Relying on a definition used in federal tax law, the rules define a “closely held for-profit entity” as a company that is not publicly traded and that has a structure under which more than 50 percent of the ownership interest is held by five or fewer individuals.

All interests held by members of a family are treated as being owned by a single individual.

Based on available data, the administration said it believed that this definition would encompass all the for-profit companies that have challenged the contraceptive coverage requirement on religious grounds.

To qualify under the new rules, the “highest governing body” of a for-profit entity, such as the board of directors or trustees, must adopt a resolution certifying that “it objects to covering some or all of the contraceptive services on account of the owners’ sincerely held religious beliefs.”

In a related story from CBN News……

A U.S. federal court of appeals has denied Wheaton College a preliminary injunction in their religious objection to Obamacare’s contraception mandate.

The college will have to notify the government of its refusal to provide contraception, outsourcing that task to the government.

That means the government will find a birth control provider, but still at Wheaton’s expense.

Some of the types of contraception include methods that could abort a fertilized egg.

Wheaton is known as an explicitly Christian college, stating its mission is to “serve Jesus Christ and advance His Kingdom.”

In June 2014, the U.S. Supreme Court granted Wheaton a reprieve from being forced to pay for the contraceptive coverage that violates its beliefs.

But the ruling this week by a federal appeals court says providing the coverage through the government doesn’t force the college to violate its beliefs.

Meanwhile, Houston Baptist University, East Texas Baptist University, and Westminster Theological Seminary are appealing to the U.S. Supreme Court to protect them from millions of dollars in fines if they don’t comply with the mandate.

The court is likely to consider all the petitions in late September or early October.

  1. From LifeSiteNews….. The United Nations pushes Obama aside and blesses families worldwide…..

“Only a small number of countries backed the LGBT agenda… the United States [for example] lobbied with great energy against this resolution. Supporting the LGBT agenda is a primary objective of U.S. foreign policy. [But] the globe was with us on this resolution. This is unprecedented—a tremendous victory for the family.” -Austin Ruse, Center for Family and Human Rights

(Geneva, Switzerland)—A pro-family resolution has been passed by the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva of “unprecedented” force and reach, thanks to a coalition of African and other developing countries, China and Russia and a support group of socially conservative NGOs. (Photo via business-humanrights.org)

“This is unprecedented, a tremendous victory for the family,” Sharon Slater, the head of Family Watch International, told LifeSiteNews. “It is the first time ever in the history of the United Nations that a comprehensive resolution has been passed calling for the protection of the family as a fundamental unit of society, recognizing the prior right of parents to educate their children, and calling on all nations to create family-sensitive policies and recognize their binding obligations under treaty to protect the family.”

The voting on the “Protection of the Family” resolution was 27 for and 14 against, Slater noted. Those opposing the motion included the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland and other Western European countries, while its sponsors included Russia, China, Belarus, and more than a dozen Muslim and African countries. The four abstaining members of the council—Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Macedonia—probably were forced to do so by the rich countries opposing the bill.

“The developed countries probably put huge pressure on the others to stop the bill or insert amendments undermining its intent by threatening to withhold foreign aid,” said Slater. “We applaud those who were able to stand up for the family, and we ask people to write to them to thank them.” (FWI provides a webpage to help people send these supportive letters.)

Austin Ruse of the Center for Family and Human Rights (C-FAM), also termed the resolution “a tremendous victory for the pro-family world” and a defeat for the small but powerful group of anti-family groups supported by developed countries and the United States.

Several attempts were made by feminist and pro-LGBT groups to first defeat and then amend the resolution by inserting “reproductive rights”—a euphemism for abortion, and by replacing “the family” with “families” and by inserting inclusive language to apply the resolution to sexual minorities.

The passage of the resolution was predictably condemned by feminist and sexual advocacy groups… Nonetheless, said Ruse, “The globe was with us on this resolution. Only a small number of countries backed the LGBT agenda. You can be certain the United States lobbied with great energy against this resolution. Supporting the LGBT agenda is a primary objective of U.S. foreign policy.”

The victory marks the growing impact of the UN Family Rights Caucus, a coalition of pro-family NGOs that supported the national delegations in Geneva.

  1. From WND…… In the “What’s new about that?” category – Terrorists vow terror to America

The newest chief of al-Qaida’s branch in Yemen has put America on its hit list, saying there is no other target that takes precedence.

In his first speech since taking over the command post, Qassim al-Raymi – who succeeded Nasser al-Wuhayshi, the military commander of al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula who was killed last month by U.S. drone strike – called for immediate attacks on the United States. The U.S.-based SITE watchdog was able to capture his comments on an audio tape, Reuters reported.

In his speech today, Raymi vowed allegiance to Ayman al-Zawahiri, the commander of al-Qaida, and said America must be hit.

“All of you must direct and gather your arrows and swords [against] it,” he said, SITE reported. “God has helped you against this enemy, for not only did you reach its home, but with praise to God and His grace, you have reached the depths of its heart.”

And to Zawahiri, he said, Reuters reported: “”I pledge allegiance to you, to listen and obey, in times of difficulty.”

  1. From The New York Times…… Cyber attacks cause too many attacks on Katherine Archuleta who, resigns under the pressure…..

WASHINGTON — Katherine Archuleta, the director of the Office of Personnel Management, resigned today under pressure, one day after the government revealed that two sweeping cyberintrusions at the agency had resulted in the theft of the personal information of more than 22 million people, including those who had applied for sensitive security clearances.

Ms. Archuleta went to the White House on this morning to inform President Obama that she was stepping down immediately. She said later in a statement that she felt new leadership was needed at the federal personnel agency to enable it to “move beyond the current challenges.”

Her resignation marked a swift reversal. Yesterday, Ms. Archuleta insisted in a conference call with reporters that she would stay on to address the vulnerabilities that led to the devastating cybertheft. But it did little to calm the aftershocks of the disclosure this week of what appears to be the largest such incident affecting the federal government.

Both attacks are believed to have originated in China, but administration officials have declined to name a culprit, other than to say that they believe the same actor carried out the two intrusions.

Mr. Obama and his administration struggled today to cope with the fallout from a breach that compromised the Social Security numbers, addresses, financial and health histories and other private details of millions of people, and to come to terms with the longer-term implications of a computer security lapse that has underscored severe weaknesses across the federal government.

Representative Adam Schiff of California, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, said that he welcomed the news of Ms. Archuleta’s resignation that “I don’t think we can expect that a change of a single person can be a satisfactory answer to the problems at O.P.M.”

“Every other agency should have its head examined if it’s not taking steps to protect its data,” Mr. Schiff said. “Because if there’s a problem at one agency, there’s likely a problem at other agencies.”

Josh Earnest, the White House spokesman, said that Ms. Archuleta had resigned “of her own volition,” but he that Mr. Obama believed that new leadership at the agency was “badly needed,” and noted that she is not an expert in cybersecurity.

“She recognizes, as the White House does, that the urgent challenges currently facing the Office of Personnel Management require a manager with a specialized set of skills and experiences,” Mr. Earnest told reporters at a news briefing.

A White House official said Beth Cobert, the deputy director of management at the Office of Management and Budget and a former longtime management consultant at McKinsey & Company, would step in temporarily to replace Ms. Archuleta while a permanent successor is found.

“That’s something we’ll start working on today,” Mr. Earnest said.

Ms. Archuleta, who assumed her post in November 2013, had been under pressure from lawmakers in both parties to resign since last month, when she announced the first of two separate but related computer intrusions that compromised the personnel files of 4.2 million current and former federal workers.

On Thursday, she divulged the breach also had led to the theft of the personal data of 21.5 million people who had applied for government background checks, likely affecting anyone subjected to such an investigation since 2000.

On a conference call detailing the scope of the intrusion late Thursday afternoon, Ms. Archuleta, the first Latina director of the agency, insisted she would not step down despite calls from members of Congress that she do so.

“We have a very aggressive push to enhance our cybersecurity and modernize our systems, and we will continue to do so,” she said Thursday. “I am committed to the work that I am doing at O.P.M.”

But just hours later, she was at the White House to inform Mr. Obama she would depart. In her statement on Today, Ms. Archuleta said working at the agency, where she prioritized diversity and planning for a technology upgrades, had been “the highlight of my career.”

Ms. Archuleta served in the Clinton administration, and later under Mr. Obama as the chief of staff of the Labor Department. When she started at the personnel agency in 2013, she unveiled a plan of action that included improvements to its antiquated computer systems and bolstering protections against cyberintrusions.

Representative Jason Chaffetz, Republican of Utah and the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, said Ms. Archuleta’s decision was “the absolute right call.”

“O.P.M. needs a competent, technically savvy leader to manage the biggest cybersecurity crisis in this nation’s history,” Mr. Chaffetz said in a written statement. “This should have been addressed much, much sooner, but I appreciate the president doing what’s best now.”

Still, Ms. Archuleta’s departure was only the beginning of a crisis response by the administration to technology weaknesses that plague the entire federal bureaucracy.

Mr. Earnest said the administration was rushing to conduct a “rapid reassessment of the state of cybersecurity measures, and accelerate the implementation of reforms that need to be adopted.”

Those include the wider adoption of two-factor authentication, which requires anyone with the password to a system to use a second, one-time password to log in from an unrecognized computer, he said. The administration is also working to impose stricter curbs on “privileged users,” who have enhanced access to a computer system, limiting the number of such users and the capabilities they have, and better monitoring their conduct on government networks.

He said the government had not yet arrived at an estimate of the cost of the data theft, which has prompted O.P.M. to offer free credit reporting, monitoring and protection to the millions affected, something they said they wouldn’t do yesterday.

From Voice of Victory…… Blah Blah Blah to continue while Iran keeps working on its bomb.

  1. Iran Nuclear Talks Extended to July 13

An interim nuclear agreement between Iran and world powers will be extended through Monday, to provide negotiators in Vienna more time for talks on a comprehensive deal, a senior U.S. State Department official said Friday.

“To allow for the additional time to negotiate, we are taking the necessary technical steps for the measures of the Joint Plan of Action to remain in place through July 13,” the official said.

Later Friday, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said progress had been made in negotiations.

“We still have a couple of very difficult issues, and we’ll be sitting down to discuss those in the very near term,” Kerry said to reporters as he met with his team in Vienna. “But I think we have resolved some of the things that were outstanding and we’ve made some progress.”

Kerry met earlier Friday with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and European Union foreign-policy officials.

An interim nuclear agreement was reached in April and an original June 30th deadline for a final deal has already passed.

Negotiators missed a U.S. congressional deadline Friday morning, meaning the Republican-led U.S. Congress will now have 60 days, rather than 30, to review a deal, extra time U.S. President Barack Obama’s administration worries could derail it.

But talks have been continuing and the foreign ministers involved agreed to reconvene in Vienna Saturday.

“We are making progress, it’s painfully slow,” British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond said before leaving Vienna Friday.

Echoing Kerry’s assessment of the talks, Hammond added, “There are still some issues that have to be resolved.”

British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond talks to reporters in Vienna, Austria, July 10, 2015.

Lower-level officials from the U.S., Britain and other participants in the talks are still meeting with Iran’s team, Hammond indicated, and said he is confident they will “clear some more of the text.”

Hammond said he and other foreign ministers would “regroup” in Vienna Saturday “to see whether we can get over the remaining hurdles.”

The sides remain divided over issues that include a U.N. arms embargo on Iran, which Western powers want to keep in place; access for inspectors to military sites in Iran, and access to Iran’s nuclear scientists to determine whether Tehran conducted research in the past on how to potentially weaponize its nuclear stockpiles.

As a 14th consecutive day of talks began in Vienna, even jokes meant to dispel tensions reflected the diplomats’ weariness, which has mostly been relieved only by brief rest breaks spent on the balcony of the ornate Palais Coburg hotel.

“We’re pushing,” said Kerry when asked if there would be a deal this weekend. “Off the balcony,” chimed in Federica Mogherini, European Union foreign policy chief.

Kerry smiled and jokingly reprimanded her with a wave of his finger.

“That’s a joke,” Mogherini said, giving a small laugh.

However, as the round of talks entered its second week, there were increasing signs of exasperation.

Late Thursday, Zarif late lashed out at “several countries” he said were shifting their positions and making “excessive demands.”

“Such issues have made the negotiations difficult. We want a dignified agreement and negotiations, and we will continue to negotiate. The deal would be within reach should the other side seek an honorable and balanced accord,” Zarif said, according to Iranian state media.

European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini takes a break on a balcony at the Palais Coburg hotel in Vienna, Austria, July 10, 2015.

Earlier Thursday, Kerry warned if difficult decisions are not made soon, his negotiators are ready to “end this process.”

“We will not rush and we will not be rushed” into reaching an agreement, Kerry told reporters in Vienna. He indicated that “real progress” is being made toward a comprehensive deal, and that the quality of any deal is the main concern.

The White House echoed Kerry’s comments, saying President Barack Obama would bring back from Vienna the U.S. negotiating team if talks do not appear to be constructive.

“The fact that we’ve been very clear about our expectations for a final agreement makes it unlikely that the talks will drag on for many more weeks.  But, again, I wouldn’t speculate on the outcome,” spokesman Josh Earnest said Thursday.

On Friday, Congressman Edward Royce, a prominent Republican in the House of Representatives who heads the influential Foreign Affairs Committee, criticized what he has seen from the negotiations to this point.

Although Royce noted there is no agreement yet, he said indications are that Iran will prevail on many of its major demands.

“How is that a deal?” the California congressman asked rhetorically in a television interview.

Western countries accuse Iran of seeking the capability to build nuclear weapons, while Iran has long insisted its nuclear program is solely for civilian purposes, such as medical research and generating power.

And from CNN, this look at something happening next week……

Washington (CNN)President Barack Obama next week will become the first sitting President to visit a federal prison, the White House announced Friday.

Obama will visit El Reno Federal Correctional Institution in El Reno, Oklahoma, next Thursday, where he will meet with inmates and law enforcement officials, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said.

At the prison, Obama will also conduct an interview with VICE that will be a part of a documentary airing this fall on HBO focusing on America’s “broken criminal justice system,” according to a press release from VICE. According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons website, El Reno is a medium security federal correctional institution.

At a news conference last week, Obama said reforming the criminal justice system was a top priority for his remaining time in office.

On Tuesday, Obama will speak at the 106th Annual NAACP Convention in Philadelphia, where Josh Earnest said the President will outline “injustice” in the system and highlight ideas for reform.

The visit to El Reno will be a part of a two-day trip to Oklahoma. On Wednesday, the President will start his visit in Durant, where he will speak to the Choctaw Nation and make remarks on expanding economic opportunity.

And finally…… Hair today, gone tomorrow…..

An Italian artist had to finish an artwork within two hours in order to have it displayed at an important art gallery. The artist from Milano was horrified to find that he had run out of paintbrushes. He was in too much of a hurry to go to a store, but he came up with a workable solution. He cut off his hair and with it made a workable paintbrush. The art gallery director immediately sold the painting for $20,000.…… That’s ingenuity for you!

Here’s the thought for the day:

Generals Conclude Obama “switched sides” in Libya

Years have passed and cobwebs have grown over American memories of a hideous night in Benghazi where our ambassador to Libya was murdered in cold blood and pulled through the streets of Benghazi while he was dying. People were spitting on him, kicking him, mocking him, and dancing in the streets over what they’d done in killing not only our ambassador Chris Stevens, but three other men, two of them Navy Seals.

It’s sad how those cobwebs soon cover names we should care about and demand to know what is happening to; names like Beau Berghdahl and his parents, or what’s really happening today with all of the illegal immigrants at our borders. What’s happened to scandals like Fast And Furious and so many other scandals that President Obama denies, claiming that “there’s not a smidgen of corruption” in any part of his administration. The lamestream media whether newspapers, radio or television news, or thousands of articles on the Internet that aren’t worth the time to read the first sentence or hear one. Constant lies travel around the world before truth can even get its pants on.

But every once in awhile there is a glorious exception. I do a lot of research on any news story before I share it. I check and double check often triple or quadruple check it, to make sure that I’ve got a story that is true. Because I do this it’s not unusual for me to find a story that almost no one has heard and if they have, the cobwebs in their memories have covered them over. I found such a story today.

WND EXCLUSIVE

GENERALS CONCLUDE OBAMA BACKED AL-QAIDA

Probe of military experts finds U.S. ‘switched sides’ in terror war

Published: 01/19/2015

 JEROME R. CORSI

NEW YORK – The Obama White House and the State Department under the management of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton “changed sides in the war on terror” in 2011 by implementing a policy of facilitating the delivery of weapons to the al-Qaida-dominated rebel militias in Libya attempting to oust Moammar Gadhafi from power, the Citizens Commission on Benghazi concluded in its interim report.

In WND interviews, several members of the commission have disclosed their finding that the mission of Christopher Stevens, prior to the fall of Gadhafi and during Stevens’ time as U.S. ambassador, was the management of a secret gun-running program operated out of the Benghazi compound.

The Obama administration’s gun-running project in Libya, much like the “fast and furious” program under Eric Holder’s Justice Department, operated without seeking or obtaining authorization by Congress.

In exclusive interviews conducted with 11 of the 17 members of the commission, it is clear that while the CCB is still enthusiastic to work with Representative Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., chairman of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, and hopeful that Boehner is serious about the investigation, various members of the CCB, speaking on their own behalf and not as spokesmen for the commission, are expressing concerns, wanting to make sure the Gowdy investigation is not compromised by elements within the GOP.

The Citizen’s Commission on Benghazi’s interim report, in a paragraph titled “Changing sides in the War on Terror,” alleges “the U.S. was fully aware of and facilitating the delivery of weapons to the Al Qaeda-dominated rebel militias throughout the 2011 rebellion.”

The report asserted the jihadist agenda of AQIM, the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group and other Islamic terror groups represented among the rebel forces was well known to U.S. officials responsible for Libya policy.

“The rebels made no secret of their Al Qaeda affiliation, openly flying and speaking in front of the black flag of Islamic jihad, according to author John Rosenthal and multiple media reports,” the interim report said. “And yet, the White House and senior Congressional members deliberately and knowingly pursued a policy that provided material support to terrorist organizations in order to topple a ruler who had been working closely with the West actively to suppress Al Qaeda.”

The report concluded: “The result in Libya, across much of North Africa, and beyond has been utter chaos, disruption of Libya’s oil industry, the spread of dangerous weapons (including surface-to-air missiles), and the empowerment of jihadist organizations like Al Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood.”

In the WND interviews, several members of the citizens’ commission, speaking for themselves, not for the commission, added important background to the interim report’s conclusion.

“In early 2011, before Gadhafi was deposed, Christopher Stevens came to Benghazi in a cargo ship, and his title at the time was envoy to the Libyan rebels,’ which basically means Christopher Stevens was America’s very first envoy to al-Qaida,” explained Clare Lopez, a member of the commission who served as a career operations officer with the CIA and current is vice president for research at the Washington-based Center for Security Policy.

“At that time, Stevens was facilitating the delivery of weapons to the al-Qaida-related militia in Libya,” Lopez continued. “The weapons were produced at factories in Eastern Europe and shipped to a logistics hub in Qatar. The weapons were financed by the UAE and delivered via Qatar mostly on ships, with some possibly on airplanes, for delivery to Benghazi. The weapons were small arms, including Kalashnikovs, rocket-propelled grenades and lots of ammunition.”

Lopez further explained that during the period of time when Stevens was facilitating the delivery of weapons to the al-Qaida-affiliated militia in Libya, he was living in the facility that was later designated the Special Mission Compound in Benghazi.

“This was about weapons going into Libya, and Stevens is coordinating with Abdelhakim Belhadj, the leader of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group, other al-Qaida-affiliated militia leaders and leaders of the Libyan Muslim Brotherhood that directed the rebellion against Qadhafi as an offshoot of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood,” Lopez said. “Many of the individual members of the al-Qaida-related militias, including the LIFG, and the groups that would later become Ansar Al-Sharia, were Muslim Brotherhood members first.”

According to the interim report, as detailed by Lopez, a delegation from the UAE traveled to Libya after the fall of Gadhafi to collect payment for the weapons the UAE had financed and that Qatar had delivered to the Transitional National Council in Libya during the war.

“The UAE delegation was seeking $1 billion it claimed was owed,” the interim report noted. “During their visit to Tripoli, the UAE officials discovered that half of the $1 billion worth of weapons it had financed for the rebels had, in fact, been diverted by Mustafa Abdul Jalil, the Muslim Brotherhood head of the Libyan TNC, and sold to Qaddafi.”

According to information discovered during the UAE visit to Tripoli, when Jalil learned that Maj. Gen. Abdel Fatah Younis, Gadhafi’s former minister of the interior before his late February 2011 defection to the rebel forces, had found out about the weapons diversion and the $500 million payment from Gadhafi, Jalil ordered Abu Salim Abu Khattala, leader of the Abu Obeida Bin al-Jarrah brigade to kill Younis.

“Abu Khattala, later identified as a Ansar al- Shariah commander who participated in the 11 September 2012 attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi, accepted the orders and directed the killing of Gen. Younis in July 2011,” the interim report noted.

Abu Khattala is currently in custody in New York awaiting trial under a Department of Justice-sealed indictment, after U.S. Delta Force special operations personnel captured him over the weekend of June 14-15, 2014, in a covert mission in Libya. Abu Khattala’s brigade merged into Ansar al-Shariah in 2012, and he was positively identified to the FBI in a cell phone photo from the scene of the attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi.

The language of the interim report made clear why the sequence of events is important.

“The key significance of this episode is the demonstration of a military chain-of-command relationship between the Libyan Muslim Brotherhood leadership of the TNC and the Al Qaeda-affiliated militia (Ansar al-Shariah) that has been named responsible for the attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi,” the interim Rreport concluded.

“What we have here is the Muslim Brotherhood leadership of the revolution giving a kill order to a Muslim militia affiliated with al-Qaida, which then carried it out,” Lopez summarized. “This chain-of-command link is important even though it has not yet received enough attention in the media.

“After Gadhafi is deposed and Stevens was appointed U.S. ambassador to Libya, the flow of weapons reverses,” Lopez noted. “Now Stevens has the job of overseeing the shipment of arms from Libya to Syria to arm the rebels fighting Assad, some of whom ultimately become al-Nusra in Syria and some become ISIS.”

Lopez distinguished that “al-Nusra in Syria still claims allegiance to al-Qaida, while ISIS has broken away from al-Qaida, not because ISIS is too violent, but out of insubordination, after Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, the leader of ISIS, wanted to run his own show inside Syria as well as Iraq, thereby disobeying orders from al-Qaida leader Ayman Al-Zawahiri.”

She noted that in this period of time, after the fall of Gadhafi and before the Sept. 11, 2012, attack on the Benghazi compound, Stevens was working with Turkey to ship weapons out of Libya into Syria for the use of the rebels fighting Assad.

According to the authors of the bestselling book “13 Hours,” on Sept. 11, 2012, before the attack on the Benghazi compound started, Stevens had dinner with Turkish Consul General Ali Sait Akin. Stevens reportedly escorted the Turkish diplomat outside the main gate of the Benghazi compound to say good-bye to Akin at approximately 7:40 p.m. local time, before he returned to Villa C to retire for the evening.

Kevin Shipp, a former CIA counterintelligence expert who worked on the seventh floor at Langley as protective staff to then-CIA Director William Casey, again speaking for himself in his interview with WND, agreed with Lopez that the gun-running operation Stevens managed is a secret the Obama White House and Clinton State Department have sought to suppress from the public.

“The shocking part, maybe even a violation of international law that the Obama administration has been terrified to have fully revealed, is that Stevens as part of his duties as a State Department employee was assisting in the shipment of arms first into Libya for the al-Qaida-affiliated militia, with the weapons shipped subsequently out of Libya into Syria for use by the al-Qaida-affiliated rebels fighting Assad,” Shipp told WND.

“Very possibly, these gun-running activities could be looked at even as treasonable offenses,” he said.

Shipp further noted that in gun-running operations in which the CIA wants deniability, the CIA generally involves a third party.

“The way the CIA works is through a ‘cut-out,’ in that you get Qatar to transport the weapons and you facilitate the transport. So now the third party is to blame,” he explained.

“Qatar probably would have been able to pull this off without any attribution to the CIA if the Benghazi attack had not happened. The attack basically shed the light on this operation the White House, the State Department and the CIA were trying to keep quiet,” he said.

“The attack on Benghazi was a big ‘oh no’ moment.”

Barney Fife? Keystone Cops? Gomer Pyle? Who’s in Charge?

Someone forgot to lock the front door at the White House. And the guard who was supposed to be on duty at the front door? Well no one has heard from him.

What we do know is that Omar J. Gonzalez jumped over the wall around the White House grounds, entered the unlocked front door, knocked down a Secret Service agent in the North Portico, and ran past the staircase that leads to the first family’s quarters. Gonzalez, who was carrying a knife, then went into the ceremonial East Room before going to the Green Room where he was tackled by another Secret Service agent who was off duty at the time but just happened to be in the area.

A congressional committee summoned Secret Service Director Julia Pierson to find out why the President and First Family are not being protected. Pierson said she took full responsibility for the security breach.

However, during three hours of questions by the congressmen, the Associated Press reports that Pierson failed to mention another security failure that took place in Atlanta, Georgia. On Sept. 16, an armed security contractor with three convictions for assault and battery rode on an elevator with President Barack Obama and his security detail at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, violating Secret Service protocol.

Meanwhile, an unidentified man posing as a congressman entered the area backstage during Obama’s speech to the Congressional Black Caucus, Bloomberg News reports. A member of the White House staff asked the man to leave.

Comment: Where’s Barney Fife and Gomer when we need them? Or the Keystone Cops? Just about anyone — including a troop of boy scouts — could do a better job protecting the President and his family than the Secret Service.

The Service has 7,000 employees and an annual budget of $1.6 billion.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Margaret Sanger and Eugenics

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg openly believes in eugenics and population control “particularly growth in populations that we don’t want to have too many of.”

During a recent interview with Elle magazine, she made it quite clear that a major factor in the passage of Roe v. Wade was eugenics or population control, particularly among the poor and minorities.

The Justice believes that poor women should have more access to abortions because it “makes no sense as a national policy to promote birth only among poor people.”

Really? A question for Justice Ginsberg: Who will decide the little children that will live and those that will die? Will the high court determine that poor women should not have children? Blacks? Hispanics? Who?

Comment: Who are the people “we have too many of?” Blacks, Indians, Hispanics? Justice Ginsberg didn’t say exactly who she was talking about — but it sounds a lot like eugenics to me. Eugenics is a philosophy that believes in the reproduction of more children with desired traits and less with undesired traits.

Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood and the nation’s leading exponent of eugenics, once said, “The most merciful thing that a large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it.”

Back in 1939, Sanger wrote, “We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population…”

Today, 79 percent of Planned Parenthood’s surgical abortion facilities are located within walking distance of black or Hispanic communities.

Since Roe, 16 million black babies have been killed. Some years ago when 17,000 aborted babies were found in a dumpster outside a pathology lab in Los Angeles, some 12-15,000 were observed to be black.

When Will America Wake Up?

Why is President Obama waiting until after the November 5th national election to grant executive amnesty to millions of illegal aliens in this land?

There is a simple answer: He knows the vast majority of the American people are opposed to blanket amnesty for the millions of illegals and it will make them mad. Hence, if he granted them amnesty before the election, it could hurt democrats running for reelection.

Question: If he knows the majority of Americans are opposed to amnesty, why would he go against the will of the American people?

Answer: Politicians in Washington — including the President — care very little about what WE THE PEOPLE think. They act more like Kings and Dictators than servants of the people, anointed rather than elected.

“White House officials have said Obama was concerned that moving before the midterm elections (November 5) would make reform a partisan issue and polarize support against it, although the move was widely seen as a concession to Senate Democrats who were locked in tough reelection battles and begged Obama to hold off,” the Weekly Standard reported.

Comment: That is deception to the nth degree. But most Americans are so sound asleep they probably won’t catch on to what the President is doing.

When will Americans ever wake up?

Obamacare and the Medicaid Crisis

Large numbers of Americans are enrolling in Medicaid as a result of Obamacare but the Obama administration says the fault lies with state officials who have done little to ensure the new enrollees have access to doctors after they receive their Medicaid cards, the New York Times reports.

“The report, to be issued this week by the inspector general of the Department of Health and Human Services, says …Medicaid patients often find that they must wait for months or travel long distances to see a doctor,” the Times pointed out.

The Inspector General said some eight million people with low incomes have enrolled in the program and the Congressional Budget Office predicts that sometime in 2014, one in  four Americans will be on Medicaid at some time during the year.

Interestingly, about the same number — eight million — of people have enrolled in Obamacare.

Leon Panetta: Contra Barack Obama

Newsmax quotes Former CIA director and democrat leader Leon Panetta saying that President Obama turned down multiple warnings that if all American troops were withdrawn from Iraq, the country could slip back into anarchy and become a terrorist haven.

In his soon-to-be-released book Worthy Fights,Panetta “was among those arguing forcefully for some troops to remain to help protect gains that the U.S. had paid dearly for in eight years of fighting,” Newsmax points out.

“To this day,” Panetta writes in his book, “I believe that a small U. S. troop presence in Iraq could have effectively advised the Iraqi military on how to deal with al-Qaida’s resurgence and the sectarian violence that has engulfed the country.”

Comment: During an interview with 60 Minutes last Sunday, the President threw all his intelligence advisors under the bus. He said the people in intelligence dropped the ball and didn’t give him accurate information on the threat of ISIS. However, documents reveal those same people — including Panetta and James Clapper, Director of National Intelligence — did give him several warnings about ISIS but that he disregarded their warnings.

Blame, Deny and Wait It Out?

According to the National Journal, President Obama’s strategy on most every issue is to deny a problem exists or blame the problem on someone else– then just wait it out. And so far, that strategy has worked pretty good. But it’s beginning to unravel and his web of deceit is being exposed.

“The president is the captain of the ship and should assume accountability.”

The Journal went on to say although there have been a number of second-term controversies, the President has counted on the American people having very short memories, the Journal pointed out.

“The time-tested strategy for Obama: Claim he’s in the dark about his own administration’s activities, blame the mess on subordinates, and hope that with the passage of time, all will be forgotten,” the Journal said.

The President’s latest eyebrow-raiser was on 60 Minutes on Sunday. He blamed the failure to anticipate the rise of ISIS on all of his intelligence advisors.

But as the Journal pointed out, just about everyone in America except the President knew about the rise and dangers of ISIS.

NBC foreign affairs correspondent Richard Engle said, “It’s surprising that the president said the U. S. intelligence missed this one. Everyone knew the Islamic extremists were on the rise in Syria and in Iraq; it was well documented. Journalists, including us (NBC), were interviewing foreign fighters. This was no state secret.”

President Is AWOL — on Security Briefings

A new Government Accountability Institute report notes that President Obama has attended only 42.1 percent of his daily intelligence briefings during his six years in office.

One security staff member said that the President had received intelligence reports on the rise of ISIS as far back as 2012.

After U. S. Libyan Ambassador Chris Stevens and three American staff members were murdered in Benghazi, the White House’s presidential calendar revealed the President had not attended his daily intel briefings in the five consecutive days leading up to the Benghazi attacks.

Comment: President Obama is a very enigmatic leader who seems much more at home with Beyonce and Jay-Z, Ludricus and other rappers, the Hollywood crowd, and on the golf course, than handling the affairs of state.

He also feels more at home with Muslims and transgenders — for whom he often hosts dinners at the White House — than with any other groups in our society.

I personally believe he has made so many mistakes that he now is facing a total meltdown and has no idea how to govern this land. And that’s too bad for he will be President for two more years.

SPECIAL REPORT FROM RAY: NATIONAL POLICE SCANDAL, PART 2

Hello America. Hello world.

From the headquarters of reachmorenow.com in Fort Worth, Texas, this is Ray Mossholder and this is the 2nd part of the Washington Post report on the national police scandal. And let me be the first to wish you a happy 9/11.

I’ve been trying to figure out why after the Washington Post did such an amazing job of investigation of both the act called “Stop and Frisk” and the scandal that involves many of our police officers, both state and federal, it hasn’t gone viral on the national news. Besides, the possibility that this story is being swept underneath the rug and stamped on HARD so that it will stay there, there is a possibility that this story would fill so many in our nation with fear that it wouldn’t be worth the telling.

So in this part of the report, still totally based on the Washington Post article, let me begin with this: For some reason, the John Lennon song “Imagine” has kept playing in my mind. I’ve rewritten the lyrics and sometime I’ll share that with you. But let me begin with something that isn’t even in my lyrics – Imagine there were no police in America today. So no matter how bad things got or how much you needed help to get out of a situation that might even take your life, there would be no one on earth who had the legal ability to come and help you. And if in the midst of your horrifying situation, someone took a valuable possession from you that you cherish, like maybe the life of someone you love, there would be no law enforcement and so that person would get away with murder. The bottom line is, we NEED honest police men and women, and again, I stress the word HONEST.

To summarize very quickly what I shared with you in Part One there are certain, in fact, many police both state and local who during what is called “Stop and Frisk” are stealing large sums of money and doing what they want with it. Only 40% of people who are robbed this way ever go to court to get it back because of court and lawyer expenses. Often the amount is too small, a few hundred dollars, that the costs of taking it to court would make no sense. But, again according to the Washington Post, more than 2 1/2 billion dollars have been taken by the police exactly this way.

Let’s look for a moment at some things we need to applaud that policemen do in the line of duty – they fully risk their lives and sometimes lose them doing drug busts, crime stoppage, surveillance, and the hardest duty of all – getting involved in domestic violence cases. More police are seriously injured or die trying to help stop domestic brutality than in any other way. More than 400 policemen – including local and state – are killed in the line of duty every year. More than one a day!

According to Steven Peterson, who is now a police trainer with a company called the 4:20 Group and a former U.S. Drug Enforcement Agent who trains police to do thorough investigations of automobiles and of people – (that’s called interdiction) – most officers protect the public and take care to respect the rights of citizens.

Sandy Springs, Georgia, Officer Mike DeWald, who is also a trainer said, “We don’t go hunting for money in general. I never have been pressured to go after money. We are in pursuit of the criminal element.”

In the light of threats by Isis and Al Qaeda and several other terrorist organizations, police trainers say their work helps make America safer by teaching police to be thorough in their vital role of identifying terrorists, as well as drug smugglers.

David Frye, a part-time Nebraska County Deputy Sheriff also serves as the chief instructor at Desert Snow and was operational director of Black Asphalt, two of the largest police training companies. He said, “9/11 caused a lot of officers to realize they should be out there looking for those kinds of people. When money is taken from an organization, it hurts them.”

David went on to say, “Black Asphalt is not flawless, however the intent behind it is. The information being moved through the system has proved itself reliable on hundreds of occasions. Much more reliable than any criminal informant. The results have been staggering. It has proven itself an extremely valuable tool for law enforcement.”

Black Asphalt trains policeman in a number of ways. One of those ways is called BOLO, which stands for “Be on the lookout,” where police who join Black Asphalt can post tips and hunches.

In April of this year, Aurora, Colorado, police officer James Waselcow stopped a white Ford pickup for having tinted windows. Waselcow later wrote, “One of the reasons I thought he was suspicious was because he was obviously a Mexican national but he was wearing a University of Wyoming cap. He had no idea where he was going, what hotel he was staying in, or who he was with. I searched the vehicle but found no contraband. Still to me he was continued to be suspicious, so I posted his driver’s license plate on Black Asphalt and told about him so that another officer could later check him out.”

The Washington Post went on to describe the most usual “Stop and Frisk.” They cited 400 court cases involving seizures in 17 states that followed a very similar pattern. It consists of officers setting up what they call “rolling checkpoints” and I call “speed traps.” The police pull cars over at random, that have made some minor violation like going a little over the speed limit or following too closely. They then either give a warning or a ticket to the driver. But what they are really doing is watching how the driver reacts, signs of nervousness, a clenched jaw, or perspiration. They also look for “indicators” of criminal activity that includes such things as trash on the floor, several energy drinks, air fresheners hanging from rearview mirrors, a radar detector, or inconsistencies in the driver’s description of his travels.

If the police officer believes the driver is suspicious, he will ask them whether they have any drugs or large amounts of cash with them. Almost always, they deny having cocaine, heroin, or a large amount of cash in their car. And almost always they insist that they don’t want the officer searching their car. That’s when the dogs become important – drug sniffing dogs.

The driver usually has to wait a half hour or more while the officer waits with them for one of the dogs to arrive. The typical line from the officer is, “I’m just going to basically have you wait here.” If that makes the driver even nervous, it adds to the suspicion of the officer. When the dog finally arrives, if it indicates that there is a presence of drugs, the officer gives the driver the opportunity to come to the police station immediately or let the officer search the car. If either heavy drugs or a large sum of money is found, the driver is immediately handcuffed and placed under arrest. David Frye of Black Asphalt said, “In Nebraska, drug currency is illegal. I’ve seized millions out here. When I say that, I mean millions. This is what I do.”

Sometimes the driver says that they didn’t know that kind of money was in their car. At the police station, they are given an opportunity to disclaim the currency. They sign a form that says “That is not my money. I don’t know anything about it. I don’t want to know anything about it. I don’t want to come back to court.” If they don’t sign the form, the officer then reads them their Miranda rights.

At this point, let me tell you a little story about myself. I was in college and coming home from a friend’s house. Suddenly I stopped when I saw the red light of a policeman’s car directly behind me. I couldn’t figure out at all what I had done wrong. When the policeman approached me, he said he wanted me to get out of my car and go sit in the backseat of his. I was scared to death. Two policeman, including the one who had approached me, said that there was someone who matched my facial description and who drove the same kind of car that I was driving, who had recently committed a robbery. The asked me a couple of questions and I stuttered the answers. Then came one I couldn’t answer. They asked me where I had been four nights before at 11 p.m. I just sat there trying so hard to think where I’d been, but I was blank. Shortly after that the police radio went on saying that they had found whoever it was that looked like me and the officers let me go. I was shaking like an earthquake as I got back into my car. I kept thinking what might have happened to me if whoever it was that looked like me hadn’t been caught yet. I still wonder.

Clifford Fishman, a law professor at Catholic University and former New York City prosecutor says “Encouraging police to initiate searches for the purpose of seizing cash that the driver is carrying or other assets, rather than to seize evidence to be used in a prosecution, is a dangerous development. It is particularly troubling if police officers are trained to manipulate the suspect in forfeiting their assets or waiving their right to contest the search.”

David Harris, a University of Pittsburgh law professor, said detaining a driver while summoning a canine crosses the line. He said “You cannot elongate the stop to bring in the dogs. In doing that, you are detaining the person without probable cause. That ain’t kosher.”

It was 1970 when Congress turned the right for officers to sieze money into a weapon to be used against the illegal drug trade, allowing officers to also sieze airplanes, boats, and vehicles used to transport drugs.

Later, Congress gave the police officers even more power, allowing them to include cash tied to drug trafficking and to allow the money to be shared with local and state police, who could keep up to 80 percent of the seized assets, turning the rest over to the federal law agencies.

The tragedy in all of this is when innocent people get caught up in the forfeiture law while police take their money and spend it on personal luxuries.

The Orlando Sentinel won a Pulitzer Prize in 1993 for pointing out that the Volusia, Florida, County Sheriff’s office had used state seizure laws to take 8 million dollars from motorists, 9 out of 10 of them minorities

I’ll be doing a 3rd part to this story on a future news special. But for now, where were you at 11 PM four nights ago?! If you’re in college, that’s almost always a really tough question to answer, especially if is being asked by a policeman.

Wednesday September 3, 2014

Hello America. Hello world.

From the headquarters of reachmorenow.com in Fort Worth, Texas, this is Ray Mossholder and this is the news.

So much is happening at reachmorenow.com that you will be experiencing with me in the next few weeks that my time is greatly divided between the news and my work with Larry Jack and Georgia to get things ready for you.

I have compiled so much news in the past three days that I can only give you only part of it today or otherwise it would be much too long. But you’ll miss nothing of importance in this and coming newscasts.

After many hours of waiting and hoping the message on the video was not true, the White House confirmed last night that a second American journalist has been beheaded by Isis. His name is Stephen Sotloff, and President Obama, speaking from Estonia, called him a “devoted, courageous journalist.”

The insanity of what continues to occur in the demonic growth of a conscienceless and barbaric plague called Isis – who are in both Iraq and Syria because they’ve broken through Syria’s border and massacred everyone on their way, must be stopped. Meanwhile, they say they will soon lop off another head unless America leaves Iraq with its military.

America is 8 days away from the anniversary of 9/11. We know that and the radical Muslims know that. News has just been released that last month Islamist militants took control of almost a dozen commercial jetliners in Libya and the fear is strong that the terrorists may plan to use them for a far greater 9/11 this year.

I am reminded tonight of the words of George Orwell, the author of 1984, when he wrote “In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes an act of rebellion.”

You can rest easy America at the soothing words of our president, that is if you don’t look now. Oh well, maybe you’d better look:

Isis and Al Qaeda are at our Mexican border today and threatening to destroy a major city;

Prime Minister David Cameron of England has raised his nations danger alert to the highest level possible because of threats from Isis.

And President Barack Obama has declared the United States is “at its safest level in three decades.” Be careful golfers. Maybe playing golf numbs the brain!

The truth is America is the least safe it’s been this very minute since the Second World War.

David Cameron’s message to England as he warned his people of imminent attack, can be seen and heard on reachmorenow.com

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers said last week that the very ability of Isis to magnetically draw fighters to join them, fighters who have lived in America, Canada and Europe “is as dangerous a threat matrix as I have ever seen in my ten years on this committee. We need to address it.”

Canada reports there are at least 500 citizens from their country who have now joined the Isis terrorists. Rogers said, “They are just a car ride away from driving across that border and doing something to the United States.”

It’s true that Mike Rogers is a Republican, but this situation goes far beyond your party affiliation or whether you would click the “Like” button or not for President Obama. This has to do with your life, your children’s lives, your grandchildren’s lives, your friends both far and near, your church, and America itself.

Judicial Watch, an organization dedicated to telling the truth about corruption, or information of major importance that is not being covered by the mainstream media, is warning of an imminent attack that is coming at our US/Mexican border. They have released this following statement:

“Islamic terrorist groups are operating in the Mexican city of Juarez and planning to attack the United States with car bombs or other vehicle-born improvised devices. High–level federal law enforcement, intelligence and other sources have confirmed to Judicial Watch that they have sent out a warning bulletin alerting them of an imminent terrorist attack about to occur on our border. Agents across a number of Homeland Security, Justice, and Defense agencies have all been placed on high alert and instructed to aggressively work all possible leads and sources concerning the imminent terrorist threat.”

Juarez, Mexico, is famously a crime–infested narcotics hotbed situated across from El Paso, Texas. Violent crimes are so rampant in Juarez that the United States State Department has issued a number of travel warnings for anyone planning to go there. The last one was issued just a few days ago.

It is less likely that terrorists would come across into America from the Rio Grande border because Texas Governor Rick Perry has stationed National Guard troops there.

Judicial Watch continued “Intelligence officers have picked up radio talk and chatter indicating that the terrorist groups are going to carry out an attack on the border. ‘It’s coming very soon,’ according to a high level source who clearly identified the groups as “Isis and Al Qaeda.”

An attack is so imminent that the commanding general at Fort Bliss, the U.S. Army post in El Paso, has been briefed and is readying his troops”, another source confirms.

This disturbing inside intelligence comes on the heels of news reports that the United States intelligence has picked up increased chatter among Islamist terror networks approaching the thirteenth anniversary of 9/11. While these terrorists reportedly are planning their attack just outside the United States, President Obama admitted until today that “we don’t have a strategy yet” to combat Isis.

“I don’t want to put the cart before the horse,” the commander-in-chief said this past Friday during a White House briefing. “I think what I’ve seen in some of the news suggests that folks are getting a little further ahead of where we currently are.”

Princeton University Professor Robert George warns that Isis is focused on committing “mass slaughter in the United States.” Professor George said “Isis has every intention of getting there, and these are people who achieve what they set out to achieve. Unless somebody stops them, they make good their threats. Our well-being, our security, our place in the world are vitally threatened by Isis. They will stop at nothing.…in order to destroy anyone standing in their way so that they can establish the caliphate.”

Princeton University Professor Robert George

Professor George further said, “We’re going to have to fight them eventually. Now do you want to do it now in Iraq and Syria, or do you want to wait until they’re carrying out activity within the United States? If they obtain biological or chemical weapons, they will use them. There’s no question. There’s nothing stopping them from using those weapons.”

Last week, Mike Morrell, former director of the CIA and current CBS news national security analyst, warned that Isis could show up in the United States to conduct small-scale attacks.

Mike Morrell, former director of the CIA and

current CBS news national security analyst

Speaking on CBS This Morning Morrell said, “if an Isis member shows up at a mall in the United States tomorrow with an AK-47 and kills a number of people, I would not be surprised.” Morrell warned “Over the long–term this group could present a 9/11–style threat. It took Al Qaeda two and a half years to plan 9/11. It would not surprise me to know that Isis may be thinking about going in that kind of direction.”

I’ve mentioned Prime Minister David Cameron of England. If you check his statements that he made even a year ago, he sounds like a totally different man. I don’t know he sounded like California Governor Jerry Brown, welcoming Muslims in New England as if they were gold.

October 28, 2013

Friday he told England that he proposes sweeping legislation to combat the “scourge of extremism,” and again warned of the rapid rise of Isis. He promised “in the end we will defeat this extremism.”

In order to win this fight, Cameron has introduced legislation to seize passports at the border. He said England would be working hard to keep out foreign fighters who return from the Middle East and are a threat to the nation. He said, “Passports are not an automatic right.” He then pointed out that 700 have left France to join Isis, and 400 have done the same thing from Germany.

David Cameron also said England would be tightening its air security by demanding that airlines submit a passenger list of all passengers aboard before they would be allowed to land. He will also be forbidding British nationals to return to Britain.

So were our president’s words that we are at the safest point in thirty years, true? I leave it to you to decide.

Perhaps to make America feel even better, The FBI has not included Isis on its list of potential terror threats in the United States. In fact, it lists Isis as a “medium terror risk.” This, in spite of the fact that Isis has now been clearly linked with the Boston Marathon bombing and several other terror attempts, and Isis and Al Qaeda are at our door. Is the prophecy of Reverend Jeremiah Wright coming true? Are these American’s chickens that are coming home to roost?

Reverend Jeremiah Wright

Some of the names of the most dangerous terror groups working in America right now are completely unknown by the vast majority of American citizens. Two of those organizations are Chechen Americans Tamerlan and

D-HOCKHAR (Dzhokhar) TSARNAFE (Tsarnaev). These two groups actually staged the 2013 bombing at the Boston Marathon.

In spite of these things, all FBI training manuals have been purged of any danger at all from radical Islamism. Would someone please be kind enough to explain why the FBI has done this?

Maybe I could get the answer from the University of Florida. That university is opening a center for global Islamic studies. They have brought together a complete staff from religion, science, history, anthropology, languages, literatures and cultures. The center will open September 18 and 19 with the conference called “Global Islam and the Quest For Public Space.”

And if you think David Cameron has had a change of heart, listen to the same man who said America is safer today than any time within the past thirty years. Speaking from Estonia and joining Baltic state leaders on their way to a NATO conference in Wales, President Obama sounded like an entirely different man.

Speaking internationally Obama said, “Whatever these murderers think they’ve achieved by murdering innocent Americans…they have failed. We will not be intimidated. Their horrific acts only unite us as a country to take the fight against these terrorists. And those who make the mistake of harming Americans will learn that we will not forget, and that our reach is long and justice will be served.”

A pacifistic president is usually far stronger in their rhetoric than in their actions. Any intelligent American will now be asking, “Does our President really mean America will be going after Isis with full strength to rid them from this world after all he said last week? Or, is it just another red line in the sand for Isis as it was with Syria with no carry-through?” We should find out in the next few days.

On the sixth and seventh of this month – Saturday and Sunday – President Obama will be meeting with David Cameron and 26 other NATO leaders to undoubtedly discuss what to do about Isis, Al Qaeda, and the rest of the terrorists worldwide. They will say a lot about Vladimir Putin at this meeting too. The decisions they make in those two days may shape the future of this whole world.

Meanwhile , what’s wrong with this picture? … The United States Department Of Homeland Security is about to allow hundreds, perhaps thousands of illegal immigrants to return to the United States and that may be just the beginning. The Los Angeles Times says this plan that is about to be put into action is because of a lawsuit waged on behalf of illegal immigrants by the ACLU. The Times says that an “unknown fraction” of the two hundred and fifty thousand previously deported illegal immigrants will actually be encouraged to return to Americai.

The ones being invited back at this moment have this limitation: They must be “longtime California residents with relatives who are United States citizens and… young migrants whose parents brought them into America illegally, and who deported themselves.”

Border Agents will now be required to inform illegal immigrants of their right to fight deportation in the United States Court system (something that would require a great deal of time and taxpayer money.) Border Agents must also “provide them with access to an informational hotline and a list of free legal providers.”

Oh, and there’s more – American taxpayers will pay for ads online, for ads in magazines and newspapers, billboards, and on radio stations in Southern California and Mexico. Working with the Mexico National Football Team, America’s taxpayers will be placing billboards “in high population Mexican cities like Tijuana, Tecate, and Mexicali, as well as observable places near the border. Plus, we will be paying for one minute ads on major Southern California Spanish speaking radio stations.

… In this new America, it’s time, my friend, to learn Spanish!

And, of course, we can bring all the illegal immigrants back, apologize, and give them all the benefits, but we can’t bring one Marine hero, Andrew Tahmooressi, home from a Tijuana prison cell because he missed his turnoff. Does that make sense to you?

Russian Premier Vladimir Putin is asking President Petro Poroshenko to engage in talks on “statehood in southeastern Ukraine.” Shortly thereafter Dmitry Peskov, Putin’s spokesman, clarified that Putin was not envisioning sovereignty for the two separatist Eastern regions that now call themselves “New Russia.”

Then a few hours later land-based rebel forces attacked a Ukrainian boat. No further details were given, but Ukraine’s major concern is that the rebels are attempting to capture a key land bridge that links Russia with Crimea.

Kiev has agreed to release all ten Russian paratroopers who were taken prisoner in Ukrainian territory last week. Each of the paratroopers were subjected to videotape interrogations which Ukraine posted online to prove Russia’s invasion of Eastern Ukraine. In return for the ten Russian paratroopers, Russia released 63 Ukrainian soldiers.

The Ukrainian government, NATO and Western officials say that thousands of Russian troops backed by tanks and artillery are now inside Ukraine. Vladimir Putin continues to deny this. He says the reason he is being so severely lied about is because NATO is trying to prove that it is still vital and that their power is desperately needed in a world that can’t afford to have NATO done away with.

The Syrian war has now flooded into Israel’s Golan Heights. That’s where the Al Qaeda–linked Nusra Front captured 45 United Nations peacekeepers from Fiji last week in the buffer zone between Israel and Syria. The Nusra Front has issued three demands for the release of the Fijian peacekeepers.

Brigadier General Mosese Tikoitoga has demanded that his name be removed from the United Nations terrorist list; that the United Nations provide humanitarian aid to parts of Damascus; and wants compensation for three of its fighters who were killed in a shootout with the United Nations officers.

Professional United Nations negotiators have been sent to Syria and have described the talks between them and the military leaders as “moving up a notch.”

Meanwhile, Isis is solidly involved in the Syrian war where more than 190,000 have been killed.

Foreign journalists were given the rare privilege in North Korea to have five whole minutes of access to three Americans being held there. The men are missionary Kenneth Bae, Jeffrey Fowle, and Matthew Miller. Bae is serving a 15 year prison sentence for leaving his Bible and his North Korean hotel room.

Missionary Kenneth Bae

Jeffrey Fowle is from Miamisburg, Ohio. The 53-year-old is convicted but not yet sentenced for leaving his Bible in a nightclub in the northern port city of Chongjin after witnessing for Christ there. Having a Bible in North Korea and witnessing are considered “hostile acts.”

Jeffrey Fowle and family

Matthew Miller’s actions when he arrived in North Korea were bizarre. He tore up his passport and pleaded to become a citizen of North Korea. Officials said no and had him arrested. He has yet it has not been sentenced either.

46-year-old Kenneth Bae’s family is extremely worried for him. He has been in prison since 2012 and is very ill. Earlier this year he was moved to a hospital after losing 15 pounds doing hard labor at a labor camp. But he was moved back to the labor camp this past month. Bae is suffering from diabetes, an enlarged heart, liver problems and severe back pain.

Washington’s travel advisory for North Korea warns that in the past 18 months, “North Korea has detained several

U.S. citizens who are in that country on organized tours.” Nevertheless, there are several Americans each year who think they need to tour North Korea.

The United States has repeatedly offered to send an envoy for North Korean human rights issues, Robert King, to Pyongyang to seek a pardon for Bae and the others, but has never received a reply. Meanwhile Korean officials have told this missionary that America doesn’t care that he is in prison there.

Still another American has contracted the deadly Ebola virus and he is a doctor who heard of the virus bringing home Dr. Kent Brantly and health aid Nancy Writebol from Liberia to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. Dr. Rick Sacra felt impressed by the Lord that he was to go to library at and take their place. He went to serve with the same organization – Serving in Mission – but now has the Ebola virus himself.

Sacra is 51, is married, and is from Holden, Massachusetts. He was not doing what Brantly and Writebol were doing with Ebola patients. Instead he was busy delivering babies at a General Hospital in Monrovia, Liberia. He was taking every precaution against Ebola. It is not understood how Sacra contracted the disease. An investigation has begun.

Perhaps the biggest tragedy of all is that unlike the two who came to Atlanta, Sacra will not be receiving ZMAPP, the drug credited, along with the Lord, for healing both Brantly and Writebol. The drug at this minute does not exist. Scientists in several companies are working to make new doses of ZMAPP available, but it may take as long as six months to have it ready.

The Ebola virus continues to rage unchecked in West Africa with almost 1500 victims who have died from it. This time prayer without the drug should be sufficient. Pray for Dr. Rick Sacra.

Things are relatively quiet in Ferguson, Missouri, but fears are that the town will erupt in violence far more fierce than it ever has if Police Officer Darren Wilson is not found guilty of murder. Many residents of Ferguson are saying however the verdict comes out, they deeply hope that the evidence is overwhelming to confirm it.

The jury at the trial of Officer Wilson is made up of two black women and one black man, six white men and three white women. The attorney representing Michael Brown’s parents says he is pleased with the jury selection as long as the prosecutor presents all of the evidence and holds nothing back. At this point it isn’t clear whether the officer will actually be charged. Freeing Officer Wilson, in itself, could bring back the riots.

While the trial continues, the Civil Rights Division of the Justice Department has announced they will do their own investigation, a much broader one, that will investigate the Ferguson Police Department over the last several years.

Meanwhile both the local and federal investigations are ongoing. Attorney General Eric Holder will make the final call in the federal investigation. Many officials are urging both investigations to be concluded at the very same time. However, the possibility that that will happen is extremely slim.

President Obama gave a Labor Day speech to Union members in Wisconsin Saturday. He sounded like the union organizer used to be. Here was the main part of his speech:

“If I was looking for a good job that lets me build some security for my family, I’d join the union. If I was busting my butt in the service industry and wanted an honest day’s pay for an honest day’s work, I’d join a union. If I were a firefighter or a police officer risking my life and helping to keep my community safe, and wanting to make sure I came home safely to my family, I’d join a union.”

The president said that he is going to press Congress hard for a raise in the minimum wage just like he courted Michelle – never taking no for an answer. He warned that if Republicans gain control of Congress after November’s election, it will hurt the chances for such a raise. “But I will do with them what I did with Michelle – wear them down until they fully agree with me.”

Republican Texan Senator Ted Cruz was one of the keynote speakers at a Texas–Americans Prosperity Summit over this past weekend. So were Rick Perry and Rand Paul.

Cruz bashed Obama. He said “In the year 2017, a Republican president is going to repeal every word of Obamacare.” And about Isis, Cruz said “Isis says they want to go backward and reject everything modern. Well, I think we should help them; we ought a bomb them back to the Stone Age.”

Texas Governor Rick Perry said “The good news is there are exactly 128 days left until the next Congress convenes with a Republican house and a Republican Senate.

Rand Paul sued President Obama last week for violating the Constitution, and he said Benghazi and so many other fiascoes should short circuit any possible chance for Hillary Clinton to be elected president.

If you are one who regularly watches ABC’s World News, you know that Diane Sawyer is gone and a brand-new anchor has taken her place – 40-year-old David Muir.

Diane Sawyer and David Muir

Muir isn’t a new face on World News. He has filled in for Diane Sawyer often. He has worked for ABC since 2003 and done many specials beginning that very year with Hurricane Katrina.

As Muir begins, NBC’s Brian Williams will be missing from his anchor role for a few weeks while he has his knee operated on that was injured and has been painful ever since he was playing in a high school football game. Williams has had three earlier surgeries on that knee, but it had weekend give him the kind of pain that wouldn’t let him sleep at night. At that point, he knew he had to have a fourth surgery.

Television ratings are watched closely by companies and businesses who want their products to be seen for the millions of dollars each of them regularly pay for advertising. When it comes to news channels, Fox News is the number one channel watched more than network news or other cable news channels. CNN is a distant second. And MSNBC is hardly watched at all. NBC news is the least watched of the network newscasts.

All of that brings us to the following story:

OUR PRESIDENT SAYS "AMERICA IS THE SAFEST IT"S BEEN IN 30 YEARS"

A Harley Biker is riding by the zoo in Washington, DC when he sees a little girl leaning into the lion’s cage.  Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the collar of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to devour her under the eyes of her screaming parents.

The biker jumps off his Harley, runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch.

Whimpering from the pain the lion jumps back letting go of the girl, and the biker brings the girl to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly.  A reporter has watched the whole event.

The reporter addressing the Harley rider says, ‘Sir, this was the most gallant and bravest thing I’ve seen a man do in my whole life.’

The Harley rider replies, ‘Why, it was nothing, really.  The lion was behind bars.  I just saw this little kid in danger, and acted as I felt right.’

The reporter says, ‘Well, I’ll make sure this won’t go unnoticed.  I’m a journalist, you know, and tomorrow’s paper will have this story on the front page.  So, what do you do for a living, and what political affiliation do you have?’

The biker replies “I’m a U.S. Marine, and a Republican”.

The journalist leaves.

The following morning the biker buys the paper to see if it indeed brings news of his actions, and reads, on the front page:

U.S. MARINE ASSAULTS AFRICAN IMMIGRANT AND STEALS HIS LUNCH

……  and THAT pretty much sums up the media’s approach to the news these days.
