Five Real Friends by Ray Mossholder Ch. 1 Goober and the Bomber Brothers

I have written nine books, but few joys in my life ever equaled the joy of writing Five Real Friends. I love Goober, Tracey, Alphonso, Willie and Pee Wee. They are as real to me as any humans are. I actually wrote this book to share with you what it was like in the 1950s when I was Goober’s age. It was a far more innocent time, yet they were bullies like the Bomber brothers even then. I actually wrote this first chapter to be a short story, but then Tracey, Willie and Pee Wee came alive to me too. And so this book. Young and old alike seem to deeply enjoy it. And it always makes me happy to make you happy. … I had no idea the Georgia could act when I began to have this book professionally recorded. But she is amazing. So let me introduce you to Goober and Alphonso, two of my five real friends. – Ray

“Unbroken” is a movie that is playing in theaters all over the United States and in many other countries this month. Directed by Angelina Jolie, it tells the amazing story of Olympic champion runner Louis Zaperini, who soon after the Olympics entered the military during World War II.

“Unbroken” reveals Zaperini’s champion spirit while under two and a half years of extreme torture in Japanese concentration camps. Liberated by Americans at the end of World War II, Zaperini was freed but not free from unending nightmares from the hell he had been through. Dr. Billy Graham with Jesus Christ changed all that for him. Here’s the gripping story… – Ray
