Mark 3 Audio Bible

He entered again into a synagogue; and a man was there whose hand was withered. They were watching Him to see if He would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse Him. He *said to the man with the withered hand, [a]Get up and come forward!” And He *said to them, “Is it lawful to do good or to do harm on the Sabbath, to save a life or to kill?” But they kept silent. After looking around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, He *said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored. The Pharisees went out and immediately began [b]conspiring with the Herodians against Him, as to how they might destroy Him.

Jesus withdrew to the sea with His disciples; and a great multitude from Galilee followed; and also from Judea, and from Jerusalem, and from Idumea, and beyond the Jordan, and the vicinity of Tyre and Sidon, a great number of people heard of all that He was doing and came to Him. And He told His disciples that a boat should stand ready for Him because of the crowd, so that they would not crowd Him; 10 for He had healed many, with the result that all those who had afflictions pressed around Him in order to touch Him.11 Whenever the unclean spirits saw Him, they would fall down before Him and shout, “You are the Son of God!” 12 And He earnestly warned them not to [c]tell who He was.

13 And He *went up on the mountain and *summoned those whom He Himself wanted, and they came to Him. 14 And He appointed twelve, so that they would be with Him and that He could send them out to preach, 15 and to have authority to cast out the demons. 16 And He appointed the twelve: Simon (to whom He gave the name Peter), 17 and [d]James, the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of [e]James (to them He gave the name Boanerges, which means, “Sons of Thunder”); 18 and Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and [f]James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the[g]Zealot; 19 and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Him.

20 And He *came [h]home, and the crowd *gathered again, to such an extent that they could not even eat [i]a meal. 21 When His own [j]people heard of this, they went out to take custody of Him; for they were saying, “He has lost His senses.” 22 The scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, “He is possessed by [k]Beelzebul,” and “He casts out the demons by the ruler of the demons.” 23 And He called them to Himself and began speaking to them inparables, “How can Satan cast out Satan? 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. 26 If Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but [l]he is finished! 27 But no one can enter the strong man’s house and plunder his property unless he first binds the strong man, and then he will plunder his house.

28 “Truly I say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter; 29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin” 30 because they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.”

31 Then His mother and His brothers *arrived, and standing outside they sentword to Him and called Him. 32 A crowd was sitting around Him, and they *said to Him, “Behold, Your mother and Your brothers are outside looking for You.”33 Answering them, He *said, “Who are My mother and My brothers?” 34 Looking about at those who were sitting around Him, He *said, “Behold My mother and My brothers! 35 For whoever does the will of God, he is My brother and sister and mother.”

Mark 2 Audio Bible

Mark 2 Audio Bible

When He had come back to Capernaum several days afterward, it was heard that He was at home. And many were gathered together, so that there was no longer room, not even near the door; and He was speaking the word to them. And they *came, bringing to Him a paralytic, carried by four men. Being unable to [a]get to Him because of the crowd, they removed the roof [b]above Him; and when they had dug an opening, they let down the pallet on which theparalytic was lying. And Jesus seeing their faith *said to the paralytic, [c]Son,your sins are forgiven.” But some of the scribes were sitting there and reasoning in their hearts, “Why does this man speak that way? He is blaspheming; who can forgive sins [d]but God alone?” Immediately Jesus, aware [e]in His spirit that they were reasoning that way within themselves, *said to them, “Why are you reasoning about these things in your hearts?Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven’; or to say, ‘Get up, and pick up your pallet and walk’? 10 But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—He *said to the paralytic,11 “I say to you, get up, pick up your pallet and go home.” 12 And he got up and immediately picked up the pallet and went out in the sight of everyone, so that they were all amazed and were glorifying God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this.”

13 And He went out again by the seashore; and all the [f]people were coming to Him, and He was teaching them.

14 As He passed by, He saw [g]Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting in the tax booth, and He *said to him, “Follow Me!” And he got up and followed Him.

15 And it *[h]happened that He was reclining at the table in his house, and many tax collectors and [i]sinners [j]were dining with Jesus and His disciples; for there were many of them, and they were following Him. 16 When the scribes of the Pharisees saw that He was eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they said to His disciples, “Why is He eating and drinking with tax collectors and[k]sinners?” 17 And hearing this, Jesus *said to them, It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

18 John’s disciples and the Pharisees were fasting; and they *came and *said to Him, “Why do John’s disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but Your disciples do not fast?” 19 And Jesus said to them, “While the bridegroom is with them, [l]the attendants of the bridegroom cannot fast, can they? So long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast. 20 But the days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast in that day.

21 “No one sews [m]a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; otherwise[n]the patch pulls away from it, the new from the old, and a worse tear results.22 No one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the wine will burst the skins, and the wine is lost and the skins as well; but one puts new wine into fresh wineskins.”

23 And it happened that He was passing through the grainfields on the Sabbath, and His disciples began to make their way along while picking the heads of grain. 24 The Pharisees were saying to Him, “Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the Sabbath?” 25 And He *said to them, “Have you never read what David did when he was in need and he and his companions became hungry; 26 how he entered the house of God in the time of Abiathar the high priest, and ate the [o]consecrated bread, which is not lawful for anyone to eat except the priests, and he also gave it to those who were with him?” 27 Jesus said to them, “The Sabbath [p]was made [q]for man, and not man [r]for the Sabbath. 28 So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”

Matthew 28 Audio Bible

Now after the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to look at the grave. And behold, a severe earthquake had occurred, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled away the stone and sat upon it. And his appearance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. The guards shook for fear of him and became like dead men. The angel said to the women, “[a]Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying. Go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead; and behold, He is going ahead of you into Galilee, there you will see Him; behold, I have told you.”

And they left the tomb quickly with fear and great joy and ran to report it to His disciples. And behold, Jesus met them [b]and greeted them. And they came up and took hold of His feet and worshiped Him. 10 Then Jesus *said to them, [c]Do not be afraid; go and take word to My brethren to leave for Galilee, and there they will see Me.”

11 Now while they were on their way, some of the guard came into the city and reported to the chief priests all that had happened. 12 And when they had assembled with the elders and consulted together, they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers, 13 and said, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came by night and stole Him away while we were asleep.’ 14 And if this should come to the governor’s ears, we will win him over and [d]keep you out of trouble.” 15 And they took the money and did as they had been instructed; and this story was widely spread among the Jews, and is to this day.

16 But the eleven disciples proceeded to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had designated. 17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some were doubtful. 18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 [e]Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you [f]always, even to the end of the age.”

The Mystery of the Shemitah, Chapter 4 - The 7th Year

http://reachmorenow.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/prophet-jeremiah.png

The prophet walks in the midst of the ruins of the fallen city. What was once the capital of His nation, the city of Kings and princes, now lies in ashes and rubble. The streets are desolate. The city upon which rested the name and glory of God is destroyed. The land of Zion is left desolate.

He had not been silent. He had sounded the alarm and warned his nation, over and over and over again. But they had rejected the warning and the bearer of that warning. They persecuted him and placed him in prison. And then the calamity of which he had long prophesied finally happened. The kingdom was no more. Gone was the Temple. Gone were the priests. Gone was the nation He had known and loved.

The year was 586 BC. The city was Jerusalem. The kingdom was due to. And the prophet was named “Yirmayahu” or as he would later be known too much of the world, Jeremiah. He wept not only for the city and the land but also for his people. The city was desolate. It’s fields were abandoned. Men, women, and children were taken captive it into exile in the land of those would wrought the destruction. Now, by the rivers of Babylon, they sat down and wept.

The book of John – Chapter 5

http://reachmorenow.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/sermon-may-5th-2013-john-51-15-a-poolside-proclamation.jpg

The book of John – Chapter 5

After these things there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

Now there is in Jerusalem by the sheep gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew Bethesda, having five porticoes.

In these lay a multitude of those who were sick, blind, lame, and withered, [waiting for the moving of the waters;

for an angel of the Lord went down at certain seasons into the pool and stirred up the water; whoever then first, after the stirring up of the water, stepped in was made well from whatever disease with which he was afflicted.]

A man was there who had been ill for thirty-eight years.

When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he had already been a long time in that condition, He said to him, “Do you wish to get well?”

The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”

Jesus said to him, “Get up, pick up your pallet and walk.”

Immediately the man became well, and picked up his pallet and began to walk. Now it was the Sabbath on that day.

So the Jews were saying to the man who was cured, “It is the Sabbath, and it is not permissible for you to carry your pallet.”

But he answered them, “He who made me well was the one who said to me, ‘Pick up your pallet and walk."”

They asked him, “Who is the man who said to you, ‘Pick up your pallet and walk’?”

But the man who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had slipped away while there was a crowd in that place.

Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, “Behold, you have become well; do not sin anymore, so that nothing worse happens to you.”

The man went away, and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.

For this reason the Jews were persecuting Jesus, because He was doing these things on the Sabbath.

But He answered them, “My Father is working until now, and I Myself am working.”

For this reason therefore the Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God.

Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner.

“For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself is doing; and the Father will show Him greater works than these, so that you will marvel.

“For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom He wishes.

“For not even the Father judges anyone, but He has given all judgment to the Son,

so that all will honor the Son even as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.

“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

“Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.

“For just as the Father has life in Himself, even so He gave to the Son also to have life in Himself;

and He gave Him authority to execute judgment, because He is the Son of Man.

“Do not marvel at this; for an hour is coming, in which all who are in the tombs will hear His voice,

and will come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment.

“I can do nothing on My own initiative. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.

“If I alone testify about Myself, My testimony is not true.

“There is another who testifies of Me, and I know that the testimony which He gives about Me is true.

“You have sent to John, and he has testified to the truth.

“But the testimony which I receive is not from man, but I say these things so that you may be saved.

“He was the lamp that was burning and was shining and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light.

“But the testimony which I have is greater than the testimony of John; for the works which the Father has given Me to accomplish–the very works that I do–testify about Me, that the Father has sent Me.

“And the Father who sent Me, He has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time nor seen His form.

“You do not have His word abiding in you, for you do not believe Him whom He sent.

“You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me;

and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life.

“I do not receive glory from men;

but I know you, that you do not have the love of God in yourselves.

“I have come in My Father’s name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, you will receive him.

“How can you believe, when you receive glory from one another and you do not seek the glory that is from the one and only God?

“Do not think that I will accuse you before the Father; the one who accuses you is Moses, in whom you have set your hope.

“For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me, for he wrote about Me.

“But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?”

Acts 18:1–17 Can a real Christian be afraid?

http://reachmorenow.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Le_Repas_dEmmaüs-1274x1024.jpg

I am reviewing and renewing the first 11 verses of Acts 18 on purpose because I want to do a greater underlining of certain truths that are found in them. How many many times I have been told that if you walk in the Spirit you will never be afraid? Paul shatters that falsehood. Only Christ can lift fear off of a person and it often takes Christian friends to help that happen. Timothy and Silas were the Christian friends that helped Paul become unafraid.

One of the things so often stressed by Christians not going through certain emotions at the moment or who have never gone through them yet is that negative emotions like fear, doubt, anger at God, etc. will keep God from answering that person’s prayers until they absolutely get over such emotions. But Paul feared and God kept answering his prayers. Thomas doubted and Christ showed himself to Thomas anyway and breathed the Holy Spirit into him. And Christ Himself was angry with a fig tree and His power didn’t weaken as a withered the tree.

The point is, Christians do have human emotions and a Christian’s honest emotions don’t limit the power of their prayers. God understands every human’s weaknesses and urges them to boldly come to Him so that He can meet their needs with “mercy and grace” (Hebrews 4:14–16.)

Acts 18:1–17 Can a real Christian be afraid?
