Darkening Skies, Chs. 9&10 - Fracture in the family, Reunion

Darkening Skies, Chs. 9&10 – Fracture in the family, Reunion

VICKI looked at Mark’s prediction on the computer. Though she was never that good at math, his numbers seemed right. At dinner she announced an all-out effort to store fuel. “We have enough food to keep us going a few months,” Vicki said, “but if Mark is right about what’s coming, we need to insulate the problem areas and get more fuel.”

“What fuel?” Janie asked.

“Firewood,” Vicki answered, “enough to last a couple months.”

Janie sighed. “Thought I was done with grunt labor when I escaped the GC camp.”

Vicki ignored her. “Conrad, I need you to coordinate the around-the-clock GC lookout from the tower.”

“Already done,” Conrad said. “We do three eight-hour shifts. Shelly’s up there right now.”

“Any luck with the box?” Vicki asked.

Conrad shook his head. “I’ve broken three saw blades on it so far.”

“It’ll have to take a backseat to this,” Vicki said. “As a matter of fact, we’ll have to postpone classes, too.”

“What happens if his predictions don’t come true?” Melinda wanted to know. “We’re already into spring. Summer’s not far away. How’s it going to get that cold this time of year?”

“Yeah,” Janie said, “we could work our tails off for nothing.”

Mark scowled. “Dr. Ben-Judah’s been predicting stuff since the GC made their treaty with Israel. He hasn’t been wrong yet.”

judd was crushed by the deaths of Taylor and Hasina. He wanted to call the media and tell them the truth about what happened, but he knew the media was controlled by Nicolae Carpathia. A sense of despair set in. Not only had they lost two friends, but they had also lost their best chance of getting home. Judd went to his room and tried to sleep, but couldn’t. He composed an e-mail and sent it to Conrad, then fixed a cup of coffee. His father had been a big-time coffee drinker, but his mother had warned Judd not to start. In his senior year he had pulled several all-nighters with nothing but sheer willpower and a thermos filled with coffee. Now, as Judd held the hot cup and thought about his family, it seemed like two different lives. Only a little more than two years had passed since the vanishings. In those two years his life had turned upside down. Nothing was constant. He seemed to always be on the run.

Buck, thrilled but also grieving and exhausted, caught another cab to within two blocks of Chaim Rosenzweig’s. Still wearing his headgear, he walked close enough to see that the GC’s were long gone. The gateman, Jonas, dozed at his post.

Knowing neither Jonas nor Chaim professed faith yet, Buck hesitated. He knew Chaim was at least learning the truth about Carpathia and would not turn Buck in. Jonas was a gamble. Buck didn’t know if the man spoke or understood English, having heard him speak only Hebrew. The man had to know some English,as the first contact with visitors?

Emboldened by the exhilarating challenges of Eli and Moishe, Buck took a deep breath, gently touched an itching stitched wound below his eye, and walked directly to the gatehouse.

He didn’t want to startle the man, but he had to wake him. He tossed a pebble at the window. Jonas did not stir. Buck knocked lightly, then more loudly. Still he did not rouse. Finally Buck opened the door and gently touched Jonas’s arm. A burly man in his late fifties, Jonas leaped to his feet, eyes wild. Buck whipped off his disguise, then realized his face had to look horrible. Red, blotched, swollen, stitched, he looked like a monster.

Jonas must have taken the removal of the headdress as a challenge. Unarmed, he grabbed a huge flashlight from his belt and reared back with it. Buck spun away, wincing at the very thought of a blow to his tender face. “It’s me, Jonas! Cameron Williams!”

Jonas put his free hand to his heart, forgetting to lower the flashlight. “Oh, Mr. Williams!” he said, his English so broken and labored that Buck hardly recognized his own name.

Finally Jonas put the light away and used both hands to help communicate, gesturing with every phrase. “They,” he said ominously, pointing outside and waving as if to indicate a sea of people, “been looked for you.” He pointed to his own eyes.

LB–TK: Darkening Skies Chs 3&4 The Chase, Tragic News

Judd and Lionel don’t know what to think. Samuel, who once gave Judd a video showing the killing of Rabbi Ben Judah’s family, seemingly turned on them in front of his father who is a worker with Global Community. But that was just in front of his father. As soon as the three teenagers were away from his dad, he gave Judd a piece of paper with the address of a safe house where they could hide. That’s where they are now in the home of Jamal. Meanwhile, GC police have accused Buck of murder and he is being hunted along with Rabbi Ben Judah.

Meanwhile, in Chicago, Melinda ran off from the Young Tribulation Force and has just been arrested by the GC police. Ray picks the story up at this point.

MARK parked his cycle and walked past a few stores. He wondered if Melinda had told the peacekeepers about the Young Trib Force and their hideout. He studied shop windows as he listened to the squawking radios.

“Still waiting for the fingerprint ID,” one officer said.

“She sure looks like the photo,” another said. “Wonder how she wound up here?”

Mark walked into a small grocery store and watched the GC officers through the window. He bought a pack of gum and asked the girl at the cash register what happened.

“She ran in here out of breath,” the girl said. “Real dirty. Looked like she’d spent the night in the woods. I figured it was one of those women who escaped from the GC prison I’ve been hearing about on the news.”

“There was a breakout?” Mark said.

“Yeah. One of those reeducation camps or whatever you call them. When that girl saw the squad car go by, she freaked. Hid behind one of the aisles back there. I went outside and flagged ’em down.”

“You’re pretty much a hero,” Mark said.

The girl blushed. “I didn’t do nothin’. Just figured she had to be guilty of something, the way she acted.”

Mark thanked the girl and left. A small bell rang as he opened the door, and the Peacekeepers glanced at him. Mark walked the other way.

The radio squawked. “Here’s the report,” a man said. “We have a negative on the downstate facility. Your girl is MM-1215, Melinda Bentley.” The man read off more information about Melinda. “You’re instructed to interrogate, then carry out GC order X-13.”

The peacekeepers looked at each other. “Can you repeat that?”

“Interrogate and carry out an X-13. Over.”

The peacekeeper sighed. “Ten four, we copy. Out.”

Mark didn’t know what an X-13 was, but it didn’t sound good for Melinda. He turned the corner and walked his motorcycle closer. He wanted to hear the GC question Melinda.

“We know who you are,” a peacekeeper said. “Who’s been hiding you?”

“I was staying with some friends,” Melinda said.

“Who?”

Matthew 26 Audio Bible

Matthew 26  Audio Bible

When Jesus had finished all these words, He said to His disciples, “You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man is to be handed over for crucifixion.”

Then the chief priests and the elders of the people were gathered together inthe court of the high priest, named Caiaphas; and they plotted together to seize Jesus by stealth and kill Him. But they were saying, “Not during the festival, otherwise a riot might occur among the people.”

Now when Jesus was in Bethany, at the home of Simon the leper, a woman came to Him with an alabaster vial of very costly perfume, and she poured it on His head as He reclined at the table. But the disciples were indignant when they saw this, and said, “Why this waste? For this perfume might have been sold for a high price and the money given to the poor.” 10 But Jesus, aware of this, said to them, “Why do you bother the woman? For she has done a good deed to Me. 11 For you always have the poor with you; but you do not always have Me. 12 For when she poured this perfume on My body, she did it to prepare Me for burial. 13 Truly I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be spoken of in memory of her.”

14 Then one of the twelve, named Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests 15 and said, “What are you willing to give me [a]to [b]betray Him to you?” And they weighed out thirty [c]pieces of silver to him. 16 From then on he began looking for a good opportunity to [d]betray [e]Jesus.

17 Now on the first day of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?” 18 And He said, “Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, “My time is near; I am to keep the Passover at your house with My disciples.”’”19 The disciples did as Jesus had directed them; and they prepared the Passover.

20 Now when evening came, Jesus was reclining at the table with the twelve disciples. 21 As they were eating, He said, “Truly I say to you that one of you will betray Me.” 22 Being deeply grieved, they [f]each one began to say to Him, “Surely not I, Lord?” 23 And He answered, “He who dipped his hand with Me in the bowl is the one who will betray Me. 24 The Son of Man is to go, just as it is written of Him; but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good [g]for that man if he had not been born.” 25 And Judas, who was betraying Him, said, “Surely it is not I, Rabbi?” Jesus *said to him,“You have said it yourself.”

26 While they were eating, Jesus took some bread, and [h]after a blessing, He broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.”27 And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying,“Drink from it, all of you; 28 for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins. 29 But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.”

30 After singing a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

31 Then Jesus *said to them, “You will all [i]fall away because of Me this night, for it is written, ‘I will strike down the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall bescattered.’ 32 But after I have been raised, I will go ahead of you to Galilee.”33 But Peter said to Him, “Even though all may [j]fall away because of You, I will never fall away.” 34 Jesus said to him, “Truly I say to you that this very night, before a rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” 35 Peter *said to Him, “Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You.” All the disciples said the same thing too.

36 Then Jesus *came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and *said to His disciples, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” 37 And He took with HimPeter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be grieved and distressed.38 Then He *said to them, “My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death; remain here and keep watch with Me.”

39 And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying,“My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will.” 40 And He *came to the disciples and *found them sleeping, and *said to Peter, “So, you men could not keep watch with Me for one hour? 41 Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

42 He went away again a second time and prayed, saying, “My Father, if thiscannot pass away unless I drink it, Your will be done.” 43 Again He came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. 44 And He left them again, and went away and prayed a third time, saying the same thing once more. 45 Then He *came to the disciples and *said to them, [k]Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is at hand and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46 Get up, let us be going; behold, the one who betrays Me is at hand!”

47 While He was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, came up[l]accompanied by a large crowd with swords and clubs, who came from the chief priests and elders of the people. 48 Now he who was betraying Him gave them a sign, saying, “Whomever I kiss, He is the one; seize Him.”49 Immediately Judas went to Jesus and said, “Hail, Rabbi!” and kissed Him.50 And Jesus said to him, “Friend, do what you have come for.” Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and seized Him.

51 And behold, one of those who were with Jesus [m]reached and drew out hissword, and struck the slave of the high priest and [n]cut off his ear. 52 Then Jesus *said to him, “Put your sword back into its place; for all those who take up the sword shall perish by the sword. 53 Or do you think that I cannot appeal to My Father, and He will at once put at My disposal more than twelve [o]legions of angels? 54 How then will the Scriptures be fulfilled, which say that it must happen this way?”

55 At that time Jesus said to the crowds, “Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest Me as you would against a robber? Every day I used to sit in the temple teaching and you did not seize Me. 56 But all this has taken place to fulfill the Scriptures of the prophets.” Then all the disciples left Him and fled.

57 Those who had seized Jesus led Him away to Caiaphas, the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were gathered together. 58 But Peter was following Him at a distance as far as the courtyard of the high priest, and entered in, and sat down with the [p]officers to see the outcome.

59 Now the chief priests and the whole [q]Council kept trying to obtain false testimony against Jesus, so that they might put Him to death. 60 They did not find any, even though many false witnesses came forward. But later on two came forward, 61 and said, “This man stated, ‘I am able to destroy the [r]temple of God and to rebuild it [s]in three days.’” 62 The high priest stood up and said to Him, “Do You not answer? What is it that these men are testifying against You?” 63 But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest said to Him, “I [t]adjure You by the living God, that You tell us whether You are [u]the Christ, the Son of God.” 64 Jesus *said to him, “You have said it yourself; nevertheless I tell you,[v]hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, andcoming on the clouds of heaven.”

65 Then the high priest tore his [w]robes and said, “He has blasphemed! What further need do we have of witnesses? Behold, you have now heard the blasphemy; 66 what do you think?” They answered, “He deserves death!”

67 Then they spat in His face and beat Him with their fists; and others [x]slapped Him, 68 and said, “Prophesy to us, You [y]Christ; who is the one who hit You?”

69 Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard, and a servant-girl came to him and said, “You too were with Jesus the Galilean.” 70 But he denied it before them all, saying, “I do not know what you are talking about.” 71 When he had gone out to the gateway, another servant-girl saw him and *said to those who were there, “This man was with Jesus of Nazareth.” 72 And again he denied itwith an oath, “I do not know the man.” 73 A little later the bystanders came up and said to Peter, “Surely you too are one of them; for even the way you talk[z]gives you away.” 74 Then he began to curse and swear, “I do not know the man!” And immediately a rooster crowed. 75 And Peter remembered the word which Jesus had said, “Before a rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.”And he went out and wept bitterly.

On June 4, 1998, the House of Representatives was just about to vote on whether prayer and the Ten Commandments would be allowed back into our nationwide public schools. God talked with Ray and told him how He looked at it. I think you will be surprised at what God says.

Shadrach in the 21st Century – Ray

http://reachmorenow.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/man-praying.jpg

I know that Shadrach along with his buddies Meshach and Abednego were placed in a furnace that caused a huge utility bill. It was Daniel who faced the lions in the lion’s den.  But I also know that the same Lion of Judah saved these three guys just like he did save Daniel. Please allow me to share the following story with you….. –Ray

SHADRACH IN THE 21st CENTURY

by Ray Mossholder

I love God with my heart and soul,

Serving Him is my full goal,

To put Him first, to follow Him, the men

Because He’s filled me to the brim.

With the Holy Spirit I’m overflown

And only live to make Christ known.

I read in the headlines this very day

That my Bible I’m to put away

Or burn it, destroying all the pages

That were written by the Rock of Ages.

How foolish man is to think he’ll stand

And be the ruler of this land

When he defies the laws of God.

I really think it very odd

That the government would go so far

As to completely forget just who we are.

From Mayflower on, God’s been with us

And blessed America. “In God We Trust”

Is more than a motto, more than a saying,

We trust Him and should be obeying

HIS laws, not man’s that contradict

And disagree with God in sad conflict.

They’ve come for me, pounding hard on my door

Screaming my name as they roar

that I will die for my Christian stance

And in a cell will do a dance

Of apology to these fine people

Who hate my Christ and my church’s steeple.

I pray as I open the door for this mob

And am strangely fearless knowing these would rob

My life from me; attempting to steal and destroy

My joy, my faith; I tell them “Boy,

Can you be a wee bit quieter so my neighbors can sleep?

It’s nearly midnight and all of you in a heap

Can easily take hold of just one me

In this land of the brave and home of the free.

“Shut up!” the biggest of them says and slaps me across my face.

“Where’s your Bible, Christian, show us now, don’t slow down our pace.”

I lead them into the living room where I’ve spent full nights in prayer.

Then I point to it and one reaches to pick it up and tear.

But I see his pain as he touches it and he yells out again.

“What’s wrong my friend?” I ask him, and a lion comes out of His den,

To stand before these frightened men who all are stepping back.

The lion licks his lips and says, “What a luscious midnight snack!”

The men fall to their knees and beg for him to spare their lives.

“We have 14 kids between us,” they cry, “And all of us have wives.”

“I am the Lion of Judah” He tells them, and you know Me as Jesus Christ.

Not the swear word you all use to blaspheme me

And I won’t tell you twice

That if ever you come after this friend of mine again

I’ll be back and the second time won’t return to My den

Without eating you all or any others who come in this mindless war

To trouble Christians who are My friends and frighten them with gore.

I’m saying you’ll die a bloody death, I will not hesitate.

So whatever you have to do when you leave to convince your leaders to stop, don’t wait.

It will be the wisest convincing you have ever done

And when you go out this front door don’t think that you can run.

Or next time they’ll need a mop to wipe away the parts of you that I don’t choose to taste.

Tell them what happened here. That we’ve met face to face.

Before you go, I give you the chance to give your life to Me.

And He suddenly wasn’t a lion, but the Man from Calvary.

Everyone gasped and stayed on their knees and prayed the sinner’s prayer.

“Now as you confront your leaders, you will be in My care.

I’ll give you the words to say to them that will suddenly change what they think,

Only one will say no and he’ll be dead before anyone can blink.

That will help change the others minds and guarantee success.

And know that I’ll go with you into what’s been this awful mess.”

Then Christ turned to me and said, “Your prayers have been like a 911 call.

I’ll be here again around 1 a.m. and we’ll have a real ball.

Well done my good and faithful friend, this insanity is through.

And your nation has been saved from collapse by people just like you.

The key to change for your nation has been prayer and living for Me,

That’s the only way any nation will thrive and find that it is free.

“So let’s go meet those bad guys, friends, and lead them to Me too.”

They left and Christ came back at 1 and my country was brand new.

Conversations with God #1 – Ray

http://reachmorenow.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/6767454015_5e1b5380c5_z.jpg

It was May 6, 1998. So there I was doing meetings at the Assembly of God church in Goldsboro, North Carolina, and in my hotel room I was as frustrated as could be. This was a remarkable time and a time set by God to get my attention. My prayer life was minus zero. I’d open my mouth and know that I was talking into the air and it seemed like God’s cell phone was off. I wanted to pray with all my heart and felt so all alone. I phoned my former wife, Arlyne, and talked to her about it. She told me that she was journaling with God and suggested that I could do the same thing on my computer. And that’s how it all began. I am sitting here with a huge book in front of me that contains all of the conversations I have had with God over my computer.

As I share these conversations with you, I’ll also make some comments aside from them to clarify anything that otherwise might mislead you. I can only tell you that these conversations between God and me are actual events almost daily for a year and a half that gave me answers to so many questions I never could have figured out on my own. His comments were often surprising and so full of love and forgiveness and wisdom far above my own (and that’s a humongous understatement for sure!) Here is the exact conversation God and I had the very first day of doing this. – Ray

Why Pray? Dr. Myles Munroe

http://reachmorenow.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/host_munroe.jpg

Are you fully satisfied with your prayer life? How important is prayer in your life? Is it a frustrating, seemingly waste of time? Or are you getting the kind of results through prayer that make you want to pray longer and more often? Doctor Myles Munroe is my friend but far more than that he is one who speaks into my life. He pastors the largest church in Nassau, Bahamas – Bahamas Faith Ministries International– and when I ministered for him he treated me like his long lost brother. I haven’t seen Dr. Munroe in many years, but I know his books and teachings have transformed thousands of lives and powerfully impacted mine.

For the very first time on reachmorenow.com I am going to be posting 20 brief videos of Dr. Munroe and his fabulous teaching on prayer during interviews on 100 Huntley Street in Canada. You will never have a better opportunity to develop a strong prayer life then you will while watching and learning from these 20 brief videos over the next 10 days. This is an opportunity of a lifetime. Allow Dr. Munroe to strengthen your life beginning now.  – Ray

About the Day of Prayer

Two years ago — before the national mid-term elections — our nation was facing so many issues that I felt it was time to call people to prayer for this land. I sent out word to my followers on TWITTER and asked them to join me. Many of them RETWEETED my call to prayer and a total of 85,000 learned about the special day.

However, this year the prayer warriors who have joined me have RETWEETED the call to more than 900,000. Of course that does not mean that all of them will fast and pray on October 29, unless we encourage and inspire them to do so.

Hence, I’m asking each person to tell all your followers about this blog and ask them to join us for the day of prayer.

Inspirational Quotes on Prayer

“God does nothing except in response to believing prayer.” ~~ John Wesley

“We must begin to believe that God, in the mystery of prayer, has entrusted us with a force that can move the Heavenly world, and can bring its power down to earth.” ~~ Andrew Murray

“Talking to men for God is a great thing, but talking to God for men is greater still.” ~~ E. M. Bounds

“The Christian life is not a constant high. I have my moments of deep discouragement. I have to go to God in prayer with tears in my eyes, and say, ‘O God, forgive me’ or ‘help me."” ~~ Billy Graham

“Each time, before you intercede, be quiet first, and worship God in His glory. Think of what he can do, and how He delights to hear the prayers of his redeemed people. Think of your place and privilege in Christ, and expect great things!” ~~ Andrew Murray

A Word from Reverend Tony Evans

America is in trouble. From sea to shining sea… The United States is quickly becoming the divided states. Disunity and conflict abound. Family breakdown, the immigration crisis, the threat of terrorism, an abiding racial divide and political dysfunction all point to a deeper problem.

Things are unraveling at warp speed. Like never before. We must pray for our nation and our leaders. ~~Tony Evans, Decision Magazine

Prayer List

Please pray for our nation and for the upcoming election on November 4 that people will vote their conscience and nothing else.

Pray for those who are running for the Senate and House of Representatives.

Pray they will hold fast the sanctity of life and of marriage.

Pray they will realize the consequences of socialized healthcare that has wrecked our healthcare system in this land.

Pray that they will oppose the tyranny of taxation.

Pray that they will promote racial tolerance rather than racial division.

Pray that they will be dedicated to the Constitution and oppose executive and judicial actions by fiat that are not approved by Congress.

Pray that they will close our southern border and protect our land and oppose blanket amnesty for millions of illegals in this land.

Pray that they will understand the dangers of a $17 trillion deficit.

And many others.

This is just a partial list and I welcome other prayer requests from our readers.

A MUSLIM COMES TO CHRIST - FROM CBN POWERFUL

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that WHOSOEVER believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3: 16.)  But the Christian life does it at all begin in Heaven, but it begins here as you discover what Christ came to bring you – “abundant life” (John 10:10.) There is no room for hate in the Christian life because “Without love you will profit nothing” (1 Corinthians 13:3.) Christ’s love reached this man. Hate never would have. – Ray
